About MRO

The professional MRO is a licensed physician who is an expert in drug and alcohol testing and the application of federal regulations to the process. When called upon, the MRO also serves as a consultant to business, industry, labor, government or academia on issues relating to prevention, detection and control of drug abuse in the workplace.

At Precision Screening, our Medical Review Officers, Dr. Brent Derksen and Dr. Robert Fallis are both certified by the American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO) which represents an objective standard of competency and expertise for MRO's across North America and is intended to ensure the public of quality services and the maintenance of ethical conduct by qualified professionals involved in drug and alcohol testing review.

Bios

Dr. Brent Derksen

MD, CCFP, MRO

Originally from British Columbia, Dr. Brent Derksen migrated east to complete his post-graduate training at the University of Toronto. The majority of his early practice experience was devoted to Emergency Medicine. However, during the past 5 years, Dr. Derksen has co-founded Segue Clinic, a methadone treatment center for drug addiction as well as become an owner of AccessMD Urgent Care in the Niagara Region. His practice has diversified to reflect his professional interests while meeting the medical needs of the community. His interest in addiction issues has also evolved. He recently obtained his Medical Review Officer Certification in October, 2007 and is now co-developer and co-owner of Precision Screening Medical Services.

Dr. Robert Fallis

MD, FCFP, MRO

Dr. Robert Fallis is a keen proponent of primary care medicine. He graduated from the University of Alberta (1985) and completed a residency in Family Medicine. He has experienced primary care medicine from many major venues while functioning as a family physician, an emergency physician, a cofounder/owner of AccessMD Urgent Care and as an owner of Segue Clinic. His passion for addiction medicine contributed to his recent certification as a Medical Review Officer in 2007 and the co-development of Precision Screening Medical Services. Dr. Fallis is an avid writer of webcontent, magazine and newspaper articles as well as books including the best selling “Your Home Doctor” series. Dr. Fallis can be seen and heard regularly on radio and television and is a regular medical expert on CityLine (CITY TV) the most popular national daytime talk show in Canada.
